Classes Section
Introduction
My classes is the page CodeChum opens on, and every class you teach is one card on it. The card is more than a link: it tells you at a glance which course the class follows, whether an activity is running in it right now, and whether it is linked to your school's LMS.
Creating a class has its own page, Create a class. This page is the tour of everything else the section offers, and the shortcut to the things you do inside a class once it exists.
What the Classes page holds
Each card carries the class name with its course underneath. A class you made without a course reads No Course instead, and a class built from a CodeChum course that has more than one edition carries a small chip saying which edition it came from.
Three things can appear on a card:
- An Ongoing Activity tag in the corner means at least one activity in that class is open right now. Hover it and CodeChum lists the activities by name.
- A blue link icon means the class is tied to a class in your school's LMS. Its tooltip reads "This class is linked to an LMS".
- A lock covers a class that has not been paid for. It reads "\
is locked." with the amount to pay, and carries a Pay now button.
At the end of the list sits the Create class card, which opens the same window Create a class walks through.

Once you are enrolled in a CodeChum certification course, the page splits into two tabs, Active Classes and Certification Courses. Your classes stay on the first, your courses move to the second, and the Enroll course card there signs you up for another one. Until then there are no tabs at all and the class list sits under the heading Active Classes.
Editing, deactivating and deleting a class
Every card has an actions button in its corner. Click it and you get up to three choices.
- Edit reopens the class in the Edit Class window. Step 1 holds the class name, which you can still change. Step 2 holds the course, and it is fixed once the class exists, so its dropdown is grayed out. On a class built from a course, the lessons and the LMS class follow underneath and can still be changed.
- Deactivate closes the class for the semester. CodeChum asks on Deactivate? and explains that "Once deactivated, your students will not be able to access the class anymore. But you can still access and reactivate it anytime in the Past Classes screen." Click Confirm to go ahead or Cancel to keep it open.
- Finally, Delete removes the class for good. Delete? asks "Are you sure you want to delete this class?" and you answer Yes, I'm sure or No. On a class linked to an LMS the same window adds "You will have to manually delete this course inside the LMS platform.", because CodeChum cannot remove the course on the LMS side for you.
Note: A deactivated class is not gone. It moves to Past classes in the sidebar, where the same actions button offers Activate to bring it back. Past classes covers that screen.
